I resisted buying this thing for a while because it felt like one of those products the internet collectively decides to obsess over for no reason.

Then I bought it.

And now I fully understand why everyone, their coworker, and their sister-in-law owns one.

The hype is real.

The mug in question:

This thing is basically a thermos designed by NASA engineers who are emotionally invested in your coffee experience.

First of all: it keeps coffee hot FOREVER.

And I don’t mean “warm-ish.”

I once left it in my car at 8 AM, came back around 3 PM, and the coffee was still legitimately warm enough to enjoy. Honestly, slightly concerning from a scientific standpoint.

The design is also weirdly perfect.

It fits beautifully in cup holders and backpack pockets.
The locking lid is rock solid, so you never have that mini heart attack where you wonder if your bag is about to become coffee soup.
And every piece of the lid comes apart easily for cleaning, which matters because travel mugs can become biological weapons if they aren’t designed properly.

Now let me tell you how incredibly stupid I am.

The lid opens with a button.
Every single time I used it, I’d cautiously ease the lid open halfway, take a sip, and then the little rubber gasket thing would rub against my gigantic schnoz and leave coffee on my nose.

I was furious.

I was THIS close to returning the mug.

Which made me sad, because I wanted to love it.

Then my sister-in-law watched me use it and informed me — with understandable disappointment — that I was not letting the lid open all the way.

Apparently if you just press the button like a normal human being, the lid flips fully backward and completely out of the way.

Even for elite-level noses.

So yes.
The mug was perfect.
The problem was me.

Also worth noting: I own a rice maker from this same company and it’s phenomenal too. More on that in a future post because apparently I’m slowly becoming a Zojirushi lifestyle blog.
